With great effort, he pushed and pulled the wheel. Slowly, the cart moved, and he was finally free from the mud. The wise man disappeared, leaving only the road. 6. A Poor Woodcutter and the Water God
Once, a poor woodcutter was cutting wood near a river. Suddenly, his axe slipped and fell into the deep water. He sat down and started crying. The Water God appeared and offered to help. He brought a golden axe, but the woodcutter refused, saying it wasn’t his. Then the god brought a silver axe, but again the woodcutter denied. Finally, the god brought his old iron axe, and the woodcutter happily accepted it. Impressed by his honesty, the Water God gifted him all three axes.
